Set Up an Account Password in Windows

Windows Vista/7:

  1. Press Control-Alt-Delete
  2. Click Change a password
  3. Type your old and new passwords in the boxes provided and click the blue arrow.

WINDOWS 8/8.1:

  1. Summon the bar on the right hand side of the screen by pointing your mouse at the screen’s top or bottom right corner. Click the Settings icon, and then click the words Change PC Settings.
  2. In the PC Settings screen, click the Users category on the left.
  3. Click the Change Your Password button. Click the Create a Password button to make a new password rather than update an existing one.
  4. Type your old password into the “Current Password” box, then your new password beneath it. If you are using “Create a Password,” type the desired password into the New Password text box. Then retype the same characters into the Retype Password text box below it.
