Internet

When you connect your computer in to the Ethernet jack in the wall, your data travels through many different devices before it reaches its final destination. From your computer, information travels through a switch in your residence hall, through the residential router, a firewall, and a device known as a “packet shaper” before it reaches the internet. How “fast” you are able to surf the web or download files will vary depending on the number of people who are using the network at one time.
