Network Registration
Registration overview
All computers who wish to use the network must pass our Network Registration system, which matches a student with their computer. This allows ResTek to contact students if there is a problem with their computer such as a virus or an abuse of network resources.
Network registration process
When an unregistered computer connects to the network, users are redirected to the Network Registration screen when a web browsing program is opened. Once the computer is registered, the user will be allowed to use the Internet freely.
The registration process will look different on individual computers, because the screens you see change depending on the operating system of the computer, and other automatically detected settings.
During the process, students will be prompted to enter their first/last name and W number as they appear on their Western card. In completing Network Registration and registering your computer on the network, you are agreeing to abide by WWU’s Computer Acceptable Use Policy.
Additional registration considerations
- Other Network Devices: Network Registration requires the use of an interface in order to pass, so devices such as routers and gaming consoles require special registration to use the network. Please see the appropriate instructions listed below:
