PS2 / PS3 Registration
Register your PlayStation 2 or 3
To connect your PlayStation to the Internet, you must first register your PS’s network card with ResTek. Because PS2s cannot pass the steps in our Network Registration process, you simply need to provide us with your PS’s MAC address by filling out our device registration form. Once the MAC address in entered in to our system, your PS will be assigned an IP, and your PS will have access to the Internet.
Locating the PlayStation 3 MAC address
- Power up the PlayStation 3 without any disc in the drive.
- Once the PlayStation 3 operating system has loaded, select “Settings.”
- Once you are in “Settings” select “Network Settings.”
- When the “Network Settings” list appears, select the first option which
is titled “Settings and Connection Status List.” - The physical address will be listed under “MAC Address.” Write this
number down and submit a device registration at our Device Registration
page.
Locating the PlayStation 2 MAC address
(To setup the PlayStation2 on the WWU residential network you must first install the Network Adapter according to the instructions found in the installation guide. Once you have installed the network adapter you are ready to begin the ISP setup process.)
- Power up the PlayStation 2 and load the Network Adapter Startup Disc
- Once it has loaded, Press X to enter the ISP SETUP
- The ISP SETUP will begin to load
- Once the setup process has loaded press X to continue
- After the network adapter has been found, press X to continue
- Press X again to continue
- Select NEW and then press X to continue
- Type a name for you ISP setting. This can be any name you would like to associate with this connection.
- When asked if you currently subscribe to an ISP service, select YES and press X to continue
- For connection type, choose HIGH SPEED CONNECTION (CABLE OR DSL) and press X to continue
- Select AUTOMATIC SETTINGS and press X to continue
- When asked if your ISP requires a User ID and Password, select NO and press X to continue
- When asked if your Internet Service Provider requires you to input a DHCP Host Name, select NO, Unplug your Ethernet cord from the PS2, and press X to continue (Unplugging your Ethernet cord from the PS2 will cause the test to fail, you want this to happen so you can get the PS2 to display your MAC address.)
- Wait while your network connection is tested
- The network connection test will fail. Do not press X or Triangle. Press Select to see the error message
- The Network Adapter / MAC address will be displayed. The address is a combination of 12 numbers and letters
Locating the PlayStation 2 Slim MAC address
- With no disks inserted, turn on the PS2 Slim.
- After the “Browser/System Configuration” options appear on the screen, push the Triangle button on the PS2 controller.
- On the bottom of the Version screen, you’ll see the MAC address of the PS2 Slim.
If you do not have an extra jack in your room to plug in your PS2, you can purchase a network hub or router from the WWU AS Bookstore, or any large electronics store in the Bellingham area -Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA, etc.
