Webmaster
Job description
The Webmaster designs and maintains the ResTek public and staff websites. The Webmaster also maintains the integrity, consistency, and accuracy of the written and graphical content of online and print publications.
Responsibilities
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of all online publications
- Create and maintain ResTek and other associated websites
- Create new content for the public ResTek website
- Work collaboratively with Consultants, Web Application Developers, and other staff
- Provide support to the ResTek staff in creating web content
- Design and write content for paper based documents (flyers, table tents, etc)
- Other duties as assigned
Term of position and training
Position is offered for the academic year, 10-19 hours per week while classes are in session. Must be available to work during summer for 20-40 hours per week, depending on workload. Paid training is provided. Current hourly wage is $9.15 for both work-study and non-work-study students. The Webmaster reports to the Residential Technology Program Coordinator.
Required knowledge / experience
- Advanced knowledge of XHTML and CSS
- Ability to create web and print graphics
- An eye for aesthetics
- Comfortable with computer technologies and willing to learn about new technologies
- Attention to detail
- A highly motivated individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment both efficiently and courteously
- Maintain a 2.00 cumulative grade point average.
- Must maintain a minimum of ten (10) credits per quarter for undergraduates (8 credits for graduates students) during the entire duration of employment
Desired knowledge / experience
- An understanding and appreciation of internet standards and web accessibility
- Experience editing or writing software instruction tutorials
- Working knowledge of Wordpress as a content management system.
- Ability to react to changing technologies
- Appreciation for user interface design
- Experience and comfort with public speaking
- On-campus living experience preferred
